Botox is the brand name for a potent toxin known as Botulinum Toxin. This toxin is a neurotoxin which means that it acts on the nerve cells also known as neurons. This toxin attaches itself to the nerves that control muscle movements and prevents it from sending a signal to the muscle. This is what prevents the muscle from movements or contracting. What most people don’t realize is that the bacteria that causes severe food poisoning, temporary paralysis and breathing problems in humans is the same that is used to make Botox - Clostridium botulinum.
